Breakout MOC: Ketta

Ketta is just another really simple, really basic, really quick LEGO Hero Factory MOC made to go with the Breakout theme.  The idea here was just to use some Ultrabuild green parts and see how they'd look on a character that could conceivably look like an actual LEGO set, without a highly custom weapon or scratch-built body or what not.

I'm really glad to see a bionicle mask and head used after so long, especially an old one like that. Another awesome MOC.

  2. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! Excellent use of Black Phantom's lower scythe, Green Lantern's armor, Breez's chest plate on top of (What appears to be) Green Lantern's, and a *GASP* BIONICLE KANOHI 2001!!!!!! AND IT EVEN LOOKS NICE ON THE HERO!!!!!!!!! Even the minor details, like the placing and direction of the armor, looks INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful way to kick it off along with Cole!!!

  3. So, the main 2.0 chest plates can fit onto the Ultrabuild main chest plates?

    1. Ya. Ultrabuild chestplates are no different from HF plates

  4. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 23, 2011 at 2:58 AM

Awesome, I love the colors. When I was first loading the blog this morning I thought it was a Breez review!
I think black or gunmetal might work better for the upper arms...
    The Ruru looks great here.

Breakout Specter would be badass. All the way. Oh, and Breakout Lorne!

  5. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 23, 2011 at 5:45 AM

I'm glad you mentioned the kanohi name of that mask. I'd been strugling since last night to remember its name!

  6. @Avron

I was struggling too. I knew it was Ruru, but I was pondering if it also looked like a Komau.

  7. A break out Specter would be awesome! But what would Jang use for the helmet?

  8. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 23, 2011 at 2:09 PM

Not to brag, but I actually have memorized all of the Kanohi, ever (not counting Kaita masks, that is).

JANG, have / will you make a hero with a secondary color of dark red, using pieces from BP?

  9. Actually, the green chestplate is on top of Joker's.

  10. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 23, 2011 at 8:02 PM

I've memorized a lot of kanohi, but to memorize them all I would have to read my Makuta's guide to the universe, like, all day!

I made up a mask of Temporal Control, and decided to make (as a secret pun) its kanohi name Chronos.

  11. Well Chronos...

Name (Without researching) these Kanohi powers:

  12. I know almost every Kanohi and their mask power.
That mask is a Ruru, worn by Toa Whenua, Nuhrii ( Metru Nui) and lots of other Mata Nui, Metru Nui Matoran. It gives it's user the ability to use X-Ray Vision (like an Akaku) andd blinding light.

  13. Oh, and is Ketta a boy or a girl?

  14. Ohhhhhhhhh its really late!

  15. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 24, 2011 at 3:17 AM

@Avron- cool, I have made many masks, such as the Kanohi Reent, Mask of Pain, Kanohi Reko, Mask of Teleportation (represented by Bulk 3.0 helmet), Kanohi Kohto, Mask of Animation, and a ton more. I hope to create some actual custom mask pieces, but not for a few years at least.

Wait, why did you name it Chronos? Other than the fact that Chronos is the Greek mythological god (titan, strictly speaking) and Keeper of Time and the Ages.
And by Temporal Control, do you mean like the Vahi?

Pehkui is the mask of diminishment
Komau is the mask of mind control
Elda is the mask of seeking (sometimes known as this)
Tryna is he mask of reanimation
Zatth is the mask of summoning
Rode is the mask of truth
Crast is the mask of repulsion
Aki is a Kaita mask, so I don't know, as I said before, but I think it's the mask of wisdom? That or valor.

So yeah. I didn't mean to sound sorta braggy before, just wanted you guys to know that if you needed a mask named for future reference, I could help.

  16. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 24, 2011 at 3:22 AM

    Ketta is a girl.

The Ruru does not give any powers except for creating a bright light, to see in the dark, hence 'Mask of Night Vision'. No X-ray abilities are granted.

  17. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 24, 2011 at 7:55 AM

I made it Chronos because the prefix chrono means having to do with time, and I wanted something more than a boring old name, so I thought it would be funny to name it after someone (that Greek mythological titan). It gives the user to 'see' time, and have complete control over it such as being able to change events that have or will happen. I made it along with my mask of spatial control, basically doing the same thing except with space. Luckily it is worn by a toa, so, there won't be random paradoxes forming anytime soon.

  18. Its a great moc for the new series let alone in general. Do you have any tips for some one just starting to do moc builds? Or any good sites to post own mocs for review?

  19. Chronos, Lord of Christmas PastDecember 25, 2011 at 2:44 AM

@Avron BM- Uh, yeah, I know the etymology of Chronos, I was just wondering why you used a Greek name as opposed to a a name in the Matoran language. But now I know.
Is this part of a story? Sounds interesting. Even though a Toa wouldn't create paradoxes, maybe a treacherous ally or a Makuta could steal the mask?
And BTW, your mask has essentially the same powers as the Vahi, if a little bit stronger.

@wolftech- Sometimes fooling around with parts and color schemes can inspire a great MOC. My two cents.
I'd suggest MOCpages, there are a lot of MOCists over there, I'm considering joining it myself.

    Merry Christmas,
Or any other holiay you celebrate!

  20. is the site your looking for.

Part of a story? Only a giant one. It centers around the island of Meta Nui, a city much like Metru Nui. I came up with it a long time ago, and Avron is one of the main characters (That's why my name is Avron).

The Vahi can speed up and slow down time, while this mask can change events, that have of will happen, however, it cannot speed up or slow down time, unlike the Vahi. There is also a prophecy that states: If the mask of spatial and temporal control should touch, they would fuse and the wearer would be able to transcend time and space.

  22. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 27, 2011 at 3:45 AM

I guess that you're right, Avron. I guess it was the visions of the future and past that Vakama had that I for some reason thought was an effect of crafting, and consequently wearing, the Vahi.It is the Mask of Psychometry that lets its wearer see the past and future, from contact with objects.
Your story sounds neat- partly because an island with Matoran being assaulted by Makuta, Toa protectors, and one or more immensely powerful artifacts always makes a good story.
Mask of Spatial whatever sounds like an extremely advanced Olmak, with more abilities; I dunno.

Also, Mata + Metru = Meta?

  23. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 27, 2011 at 1:16 PM

Chronos, since you seem interested in my story, I made a website just for it, and I will soon begin releasing chapters for The Story of Meta Nui. I don't want to spoil the story or anything, but a big reason that everyone is after Meta Nui is because that is where a mask of time is (in this reality, there can be more than one great or legendary mask, such as the mask of light). The Mask of Spatial Control (MSC for short)is basically just what you said, and that is where I got Meta Nui from, actually. Have you ever considered being a detective? :) Any Ideas what I should kanohi name the MSC?

    Here is the website:

  24. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 27, 2011 at 5:21 PM

Awesome, Avron, the site looks great- but I think pictures would help us get a better idea of the characters.
Can't wait for more story updates!
You should call the 'MSC' the Kanohi Diastima. It is Greek for space.
LOL, no, I haven't considered being a detective.
I think you should use your name (on your comment) as a link to your website.

  25. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 27, 2011 at 7:24 PM

I just started the site, so there will be pictures coming soon. With years of development, you can expect plenty of new chapters for Meta Nui.

I think I'm going to combine Diastima with a previous idea to make Diapalkan, and how do you add a link to your name?

  26. @chronos...

Wow, you guys know a lot about kanohi masks.

  27. Chronos, Lord of TimeDecember 28, 2011 at 7:23 AM

    Palkia, the Spatial Pokemon.
You should probably call the Mask of Temporal Control the Kanohi Dialchronos, or something similar.
    (dialga + chronos = dialchronos)
I could be wrong but I am fairly certain that the name of the Diapalkan is a Pokemon reference.
Add a link by scrolling down in the 'select profile' dropdown menu and clicking on 'Name/URL'.
Enter your name (Chronos, Lord of Time, for example) in the 'name' box, and entering your website URL in the box labeled 'URL'. For a good example, see wolftech's comment above.

  28. Avron, Bionicle MasterDecember 28, 2011 at 8:52 AM

I added some photos to the website so you can visualize the characters. just look in the photos page.

  29. How did you know I got that from pokemon?! Are sure you don't want to be a detective? :) I'm going to make the masks those names, you are definitly right about the pokemon reference. Their original names were supposed to be Diaglan and Palkan.

My name is now a link.

  30. Vakama does not have the Mask of Time anymore.
Voporak (i don't think I spelt it right)is kepping it on Spherus Magna.

  31. Anonymous 30th comment:

Um... are you talking about my universe, or just the normal one? In my universe, everything happens as it would in the normal one, but Meta Nui is going on in the background. (Until later on) Besides, there can be multiple of a great/legendary mask here.
