JANGBRiCKS Bionicle Self-MOC update - Golden Lorne

Instagram followers have seen a few teasers over the past few days, now blog viewers get the full reveal the day before it goes public on YouTube :)  This is my latest update to my large action figure self-MOC series that started all the way back in 2010.  This is also a completely new build, and the first time I've deviated from the original color scheme, making it somewhat of a "special edition" version, you might say.

It ain't perfect, and this one is way down on articulation from the last couple due to the surprising use of a single prefab torso, but this has arguably more fine detailing than any of the previous incarnations.

Whatever the specifics, I enjoyed the build and am satisfied with the result for now, but I'll surely redo it all again in the future!

LEGO Bionicle Skull Scorpio alternate design concept

With as much disappointment as I expressed with regards to the official LEGO Skull Scorpio model, I couldn't help but attempt a remake.  This one doesn't try to be a fully fleshed-out MOC, instead going for a "could have been the set" style in the same size and general layout as the original, even including a Technic action in the tail.  Most of this went together in a single sitting and it definitely could have been better with the help of a lot of aesthetic tweeks by way of experimentation, but I'm mostly pleased with how it turned out, based on how I approached the little project.

LEGO Bionicle Chibi Protectors of Stone & Jungle

Oops!  I publicized these on YouTube before here.  I'll make up for it by posting the full team wrap-up video here first (soon) for you kind & dedicated blog followers.

LEGO Bionicle Chibi Protectors of Fire & Earth

Continuing with my chibi-fication of the 2015 Bionicle line, here are my first two Protectors.  The size had to be ridiculously small to have some sort of decent scale to my chibi Toa.  Thus I tried to make a CCBS-based Tohunga frame and hang Protector masks & weapons on them.  The scale is somewhat ludicrous for this building system and more limiting than I even imagined.

LEGO Bionicle Toa Chibi Onua!

Here's something you don't see every day: A video that went up on YouTube before it went up on the blog.    Right after hitting the "publish" button I was about to rush over here to post up about it, but then (everything else in) life happened :D

LEGO Bionicle Toa Chibi Lewa!

Yeah, I'm glad I started doing these.  Because of the limitations of parts colors, this one will probably be the least accurate of all.

LEGO Bionicle Toa Chibi Kopaka!

Chibi Tahu was fun, so I tried another!  This was a little more complex, and combined with the fact that it's based on my favorite full-sized Toa of 2015, I ended up enjoying this one even more.

JANGBRiCKS Bionicle Self-MOC -- Lorne Jan 5, 2015

Now things are reeeeally coming full circle.  My self-MOC started out as a Bionicle creation, went Hero Factory with the introduction of CCBS, got some revamps, and now is back to being a Bionicle again :)

Bionicle MOC: Zeyek's Starship

Alright!  This should be it, my very last ever Bionicle MOC video!  Check out all of Zeyek's historical posts, including the recent (but first) video showing Zeyek himself.

Bionicle / Hero Factory MOC: Zeyek

Now here's a subject you don't see me covering much anymore -- Bionicle!  Though I crossed the character to the Hero Factory universe, good old Zeyek will always be most fondly remembered from his days as a Bionicle chronicler.  This here is the first time I've really highlighted the simple figure on video, including highlighting his transforming feature that nobody noticed before1

Old Bionicle MOC - royal pet cat

Now here's an oldie. This was one of my earliest LEGO action figure building system MOCs and as of this writing it would be the oldest surviving MOC of mine, period.  I say "would be" because I've already taken it apart, but I did get a final look at it on video for all of y'all and for all of posterity, for what it's worth.

Bionicle MOC (old) - Gelaeus' quadriped walker

Here's an oldie, but goodie, used in the old Rilovians story, though made even earlier than that.  I've kept this one on display for nearly four years, and now it is finally meeting the fate of the vast majority of my MOCs!

Farewell, Lorne... and others

Tonight the original, Bionicle universe form of Lorne, my self-MOC, was finally disassembled to harvest its many "special" pieces and to make room for more Hero Factory creations.  Lorne 2.0 lives on in its stead.

Behind the scenes, I've recently quietly disassembled an entire shelf worth of my favorite Bionicle characters, and over the past few weeks I've built 15 more new Hero Factory MOCs for which I'll start slowly releasing videos this week.  Exciting times on the LEGO front!

In somewhat related news, I've begun to realize that the overwhelming majority of my neatly-sorted Bionicle parts have not been touched all year, even when I've had intense MOC-making sprees.  I'm a collector at heart and really, really like having "one of everything" at my fingertips, but what's the point if most of it sees no use?  It's beginning to feel like there's another epic parts sell-off coming in the first half of 2012.
