Mega Bloks Halo Pelican Dropship from 2010 + comparison videos

Back when I reviewed the 2013 Pelican Gunship shortly after its release, a bunch of folks asked me to compare it to the original version.  Problem was, I didn't have the old one to compare it to, it was long discontinued, and I didn't have enough confidence in Mega Bloks to commit to buying older sets at marked-up prices.  All of that has finally changed, so here I present my review of the oldie, with the long-ago-requested comparison with the ironically now-discontinued 2013 version!

Establish your army, build and expand your units with the Halo UNSC Pelican Dropship playset by Mega Bloks! Build and recreate epic battle scenes between the UNSC and the Covenant with this authentic buildable vehicle! A mainstay of the UNSC military, the Pelican Dropship's primary role is to deliver troops, equipment and weaponry to and from forward combat positions, making them an essential tool in the war against the Covenant. The key to its longevity and versatility comes from its four rotating thrusters for VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) capability, allowing it to deploy or evacuate UNSC forces within moments of landing. Set your pilot in the fully functional cockpit, load your Pelican's troop bay with UNSC soldiers through the opening rear bay door and take your special forces into action!

Ideal for children ages 8 and up!
Features:
  • Buildable VTOL military dropship
  • Four rotating thrusters for VTOL action
  • Real working rear bay door
  • Real working front cockpit with space for 2 mini-figs
  • 1 UNSC Yellow Spartan-II with rocket launcher, 1 UNSC Yellow Spartan-II with shotgun, 1 UNSC Yellow Hayabusa Spartan-II with katana and assault rifle, 1 UNSC pilot with M6D pistol
  • Troop bay holds up to 4 mini-figs

  1. Great review. I just want to ask about the main green colour of the older Pelican Dropship kit. I know the bricks have camo, but what shade of green that is comparable to LEGO is the green in the Pelican Dropship Mega Bloks kit? Reason I'm asking is because I just ordered a Pelican Dropship from eBay and while waiting for it, I'm going to BrickLink to buy some additional green parts to modify the Pelican, making it larger to accommodate a Mega Bloks Mongoose and two additional passenger seats in the passenger compartment. Thanks!
