Mall update #23: Filling the very last slot
Here it is, the very last space in my mall, all filled in! This is the men's department of my faux-Sears (maybe I can call it Sereaux?). Once again, very low fashion, mostly work clothes here.
With the last section of the interior revealed, I might as well finally show this snap of the whole mall a couple weeks ago:
Today, it looks a bit different, with a small change to the entranceway, most of the roof on, and an edge treatment going around the top. Right now I'm just waiting on some parts to finish up the final details, so the next update should be a full video reveal at last! I've really enjoyed this very unstructured, free-form building process, and I'm completely satisfied with the time it has taken to make what progress I have. If I could go back to early March and change anything from the start, I wouldn't. Everything is turning out as well as I could have hoped, and in many cases, even better.
Update: Thank you all for your comments! Very encouraging to see so much interest in this thing! Thank you all again!

ReplyDeleteWow! I'm really curious to see if you built it so that the second floor can be taken off to reveal the 1st floor. Nice work!
ReplyDeletegenious he always makes it like so that they can remove their floors
DeleteWOW THATS LARGER THAN I EXPECTED>
ReplyDeleteWow, very nice! I like the way you did the entrance, not that the rest is rubbish, no, everything is very cool! Just wondering what those brown arched-things are...
ReplyDeleteIf you're next big building is the hospital, please do it like you did this building.
they look like the beginnings of a full hallway skylight in my opinion but amazing work jang :)
DeleteYes you're right!
DeleteAMAZING. JUST AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteNice!!
ReplyDeleteThere's is one thing: Imagine that one of your customers is there, but forgot to, you know, let her/his urine out. Where does she/he needs to go? You haven't shown the delivery room, or did you do that on purpose?
ReplyDeleteFor the rest an exceptional good moc, in my opinion. Thanks!
There are separate hombres/mujeres restrooms on the ground floor near the elevator :) Just visible in update #12.
DeleteAre you of Spanish descent JANG? I know it might not be relevant but I am still guessing my way.. Greek, Armenian, Lebanese, Italian, Sicilian, Spanish, Portuguese?
Delete/LhD
Hey jang, I know this is off topic but what company do you work for?
ReplyDeleteLook at the bottom of the page. He is independent
DeleteAwesome work Jang! I love your use of color and different pieces.
ReplyDeleteI need to go through your Bricklink haul videos to see when you got all those light green awnings.
Very creative!
Looking forward to the final review video. The details within each of your shops is really great! I'm curious to see how it all comes together. I was really impressed with the final aquarium roof in your zoo, excited to see what you do with the mall!
ReplyDeleteMall is INCREDIBLE!!! Haven't even seen the full thing, but superb work as always Jang. :D
ReplyDeleteAs always, I'm amazed, Jang! Keep on inspiring! :)

ReplyDeleteHi jang thanks for the reviews me and my son are starting a city layout any tips on getting started many thanks dean and sam
ReplyDeleteLooks very cool! Are you going to make a third floor?
ReplyDeleteHe said in the video tour of his city that it was only going to be 2
DeleteOk thanks anonymous!
DeleteYou're welcome unanonymous
DeleteHey jang, where do you get all of your pieces?
ReplyDeleteBricklink
DeleteI've got to think that would get a little pricey
Deletewhere is the parking lot?
ReplyDeleteyea jang your patrons drive sometimes they need a place to park but AWESOME BUILDING anyway you should design sets for lego!! :D
ReplyDeleteSorry guys, a decent parking lot or garage that I'd be happy with would take up a full city block. That would mean removing a ton of other stuff from the plans for my city; really not worth it to me.
ReplyDeleteagreed
DeleteYeah, parking lots would be cool, but they would double your whole city. I guess its like a metropolis land ain't cheap.
DeleteHey Jang, have you ever done stopmotion animation?
ReplyDeleteOh ok Jang I understand!
ReplyDeleteHey Jang how many bricks high is the ceiling?
