I got multiple Benny ship sets, and here's one of the reasons!
Here's the setup. Benny has been captured by the Super Secret Police, and one SSP RoboPilot has donned Benny's trademark play-worn space suit to infiltrate & take over an old Master Builder Space Base. Following Lord Business' direction, the RoboPilot now permanently operates the station, which has been turned into a well-defended attack installation featuring a planet-splitting laser! With Benny's whereabouts unknown, it's up to the remaining Master Builders to retake the base and save hundreds of threatened, highly creative worlds! Continues...
Emmet flies a space interceptor towards the base, but is repelled by the anti-aircraft defense turret. Barely escaping damage, Emmet lands out of range and is joined by Wildstyle, who pieces old debris together to create a six-wheeled surface rover with a single surface-to-surface missile. With only one shot, missing the target is not an option! Emmet once again disguises himself as a robot to sneak through the enemy base's defenses and plant a missile homing beacon on the main defense turret. He takes cover, Wildstyle fires and... it's a direct hit!
Wildstyle picks up Emmet on her rover and they head back to the interceptor to use its weapons against the planet-splitting laser, but they don't realize the RoboPilot has activated another potent defensive weapon, a remotely-piloted drone! As Emmet approaches on an attack run, he's surprised by the drone and has to take evasive maneuvers. The small drone's agility and digital precision can't be bested and it lines up a shot! Oh no!
At the last second before firing, the drone is kicked! Yes, kicked! It's AstroKitty to the rescue in her winged flight suit! Unable to compensate for the unprecedented interruption, the drone clips a wing on sharp terrain, crashes, and explodes! Emmet completes his attack run and destroys the planet-splitting laser, but the RoboPilot damages Emmet's interceptor with a volley from his blaster rifle.
The RoboPilot must be eliminated, and Benny will be the one to complete the task! Himself now wearing a RoboPilot suit (the only thing he could find while escaping from the SSP holding barge), Benny rockets onto the scene riding two active flick-fire missiles! He spins & spirals to avoid the RoboPilot's blasts, and releases the missiles at just the right moment! Boom! The RoboPilot explodes into (reusable) pieces, and Benny gets his spacesuit back!
Benny, Emmet, Wildstyle, and AstroKitty have saved the day!

ReplyDeleteFuturon sets were and still are my inspiration. Since spring last year I've buying parts so I can recreate Blacktron's Message Interseptor Base into a Futuron style. Another goal is to recreat Blacktron II Ariel Intruder & Futuron Star Defender 200 in a swapped theme role.
DeleteBest stoRy in the world.
ReplyDeleteI spent some time scrolling through this blog just to find this post
ReplyDeletePretty cool. Since Lego's brought back the concept of Classic Space through Benny's Spaceship, it's too bad Lego's aren't bringing them back as a reboot. Classic Space II? hmm! It's a thought.
