Lego Hero Factory Recon Team is live!


That's right, the Lego Hero Factory Recon Team site is up & running and Hero Factory enthusiasts around the world are filling up the gallery with new virtual creations.  Above is Noah Iron Shadow, my first attempt, for what it's worth.  I won't bore you with a long "review" of this Design By Me-powered setup.  Just go play with it yourself! 

The basic principle is that you design your own Hero from existing parts, give him a name (yes "him," there are no female names, argh!), and then can actually order that hero to be delivered directly to you by mail (well, the pieces to make it at least).  The cost is $12.99 USD in America, plus $4.95 shipping.  Pretty steep price for a single normal-sized figure.  For folks who were hoping to find tons of new colors for much-loved parts, sorry, no dice.  There is only one new Recon Team-exclusive piece, the two-tone chest plate seen above.  All other pieces are existing items in already-available colors.  What's funny is that for extra variety, they let you add some System parts, including a couple different sizes of small claws, and tiny undersized tools.

Anyhow, it's fun to mess around with.  I'm actually going to order one particularly peculiar-looking hero, just to complete the process and see how it goes.  I spec'd my guy up with parts that I want more of for MOC making, especially the translucent red/orange armor pieces!  I'll post up when it arrives.

    Also Lego Digital Designer has some of the Hero Factory parts. It has everything the Recon Team builder has except the new chest piece. Plus it has more like the printed armor pieces. Downside is a basic build is over $20.

    Along with that the pick a brick has the parts for individual sale. If you just want parts this seems like the best deal.

    Awww... It's really cool to do a Hero, I made one, and I loved it! But it doesn't ships to Brazil, where I live. T_T

    i have made hundreds of heroes on the LDD version it is the best especially how its unlimited to what you can do on it i might download one of the basic ones just to get extra parts and the chest plate this thing is so amazing!!!!!!

    It is a bit upsetting that you can't add extra weapons in other places. Armor too. Why is there a limit on parts if there is already a small amount of places. You know, those thieves could take that image you have posted right now and copy them, like the ball-sucking idiots they are (sorry for the vulgarity)

    JANG, I might not be remembering this right, but on Recon you can get black and silver 5-long plates, which I'm pretty sure you can't get in any of the available sets (I have all the OoF models). Also LEGO stores now have a pick-a-brick Hero Factory wall, where you can get WHITE and ORANGE heads & cores, which are exclusive to Rocka and Bulk 3.0!

    My Recon Team stopped working. Even when I'm logged in, the link to "My Heroes" is broken. When I search for them, it says they're mine, but I cannot edit them. It looks like another massive fluke in Lego LDD.

    Hey Jang! I was never really into Bionicle, but I'm just starting to get into HF. Loving your blog here! I ordered a HF Recon Team model last week, just to see what the final product would be like. Kind of excited to get my hands on it. I'll probably make up another one later in the year, as it's rumored that more parts will be available.

    I can't access my Heroes and here's a tip for those of you who can't. Once you've finished the model, copy the web address into a word document or whatever you have and then when you want to access it just go on the word document or whatever you pasted the web address onto and then click the link or copy it into your web address bar and then you've got access to your past heroes.

    hey when will the new pices come out i just checked it and i saw like 6 heros with awsome wepons and armour i hate that you cant put more then 1 pice of arm armor on and it has no girl names but i just checked and am wondering when the new pices will come out

    it's taking forever for mine to come. it said 3 to 4 days its been longer than that and the guys right about the person copying bergyon to the gallery awesome MOCs my fav. is specter 2.0

    Hey Jang,

    Remember in your Jet bug review you said that if you use the red translucent armor on a hero with the red body. Well you can now make one with the Hero recon team builder!!! :D
