Hey JANG, I have a suggestion for ...Looking great!

Hey JANG, I have a suggestion for a potential video. I greatly admire how in-depth you analyze sets, old and new, from a designer perspective and how functional they are as toys. I would like to hear your thoughts on the concept of legal and illegal connections. Since the onset of the Lego SYSTEM (greatly emphasized in this video clip: guard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po3zQkkX1UU#t=620) it seems that the concept of a universal "system" which constitutes the way elements are to be put together (the way everything should be) takes its roots directly from the first motto, "Only the Best is Good Enough". The recently integrated Lego Design Lab not only has a unique description on this site, but also provides a PDF that outlines several of these "legal" and "illegal" connections. Link: http://www.newelementary.com/p/glossary.html#t

PDF found under "illegal connections" in the glossary.

I would really appreciate your take on this subject as one of the focal points of your analysis is playability. What really defines playability? When children stumble, inadvertently, upon these illegal connections, does strict adherence to the "system" inhibit full creativity? We all have found unorthodox techniques, not to mention several sets were previously released utilizing these methods.

Thank you for your hard work and extremely informative videos. I am always looking forward to your reviews and layout updates (especially the classic-space reviews).

-MR
M.R.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3824360734690778592.post-90422417117221071192014-04-15T18:17:44.534-07:002014-04-15T18:17:44.534-07:00Awesome job Jang!!Awesome job Jang!!jmwedlake@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05274183743673451249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3824360734690778592.post-63605722398666319642014-04-15T17:55:26.819-07:002014-04-15T17:55:26.819-07:00Is that where's my pants guy at the top of the...Is that where's my pants guy at the top of the escalator on the right?
BrickAddicthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06844232036129800321noreply@blogger.com
